Temperature Recording (Data Logging):

Why Record? Should the need ever arise to prove to yourself and/or your clients that the oven operated correctly (or not) during a cycle, then recording the temperature profile during oven operation provides this proof. Companies that operate quality control systems such as ISO9000 usually require constant recording and logging facilities on all industrial process ovens.

There are various methods of recording your temperature.

Simple data loggers such as the PICO TC08 which has 8 channels and needs to be connected to a PC or Laptop.

Circular chart recorders such as the Partlow 5000, using either a 24 hour or a 7 day chart. Available with 1 or 2 channels and usually used just to record the air temperature within the oven chamber.

Digital chart recorders such as the Chessell range. Relatively sophisticated with lots of functions and usuall OK with up to 12 channels. These recorders can record to a pen drive or can be connected direct to a PC for recording.

SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Aquisition) systems such as Specview or Prodigy, in conjunction with a PC have potentially unlimited control and recording channels. Often used where there are several ovens all with many channels to record.
SCADA can also be easily expanded with more channels as and when required.
